Saturday Group Piano Classes at Interlude Music

This is our newest offering, and we are so excited to begin!

These classes are for students ages 4-9, and they will be small - capped at 5 students per class. The idea behind these classes is to give students the opportunity to learn music in a supportive social environment. This gives students the chance to learn how to play with others from the very beginning, which is something pianists often miss out on when they only take private lessons.

The format of the class will be fairly similar to the private lesson format, in terms of skills covered: Technique, Improvisation, Music Reading, Ear Training, Songs/Repertoire

Group classes will take place on Saturday mornings, at the following times:

 9-9:45am | Intro to Piano (4-5 y/o)
10-10:45am | Piano 1 (6-7 y/o)
11am-12pm | Piano 2 (8-9 y/o)

Group classes tuition is paid monthly, at $130/month from September-June.

Students will perform in 2 recitals, as well as contribute to our annual Christmas Album!

9-9:45am | Intro to Piano (4-5 y/o)

Children at this age are natural explorers, and Intro to Piano gives them the ideal space to explore this wonderful instrument!  Intro to Piano starts at the beginning, with a focus on giving each child what they need to grow in their sense of pitch, rhythm and artistry - and of course, a love of piano!

10-10:45am | Piano 1 (6-7 y/o)

Ages 6-7 are an exciting time for a child, as they begin 1st grade and start learning at a faster rate. This translates to piano beautifully. As they work to master the art of reading and writing words, they are perfectly primed to learn how to read the language of music as well. In many ways, piano education pairs elegantly with the other skills that children are learning at this stage.

11am-12pm | Piano 2 (8-9 y/o)

Students at this age are on a mission to figure out the world - to learn what works and what doesn't work, to learn the rules and to see how far they can take each new concept.  This is an ideal time to dive into conversation about music in theoretical terms - what we call "music theory".  As they continue to play and perform, these students are also coming to better understand the musical world that they live in.
